Even though ClickBank makes this service available to its affiliates, only a small number of ClickBank affiliates understand that instant notification is available for them. For this reason, few use the service. In this article I will try to help change the current state of affairs by teaching you more about ClickBank's instant notification interface, and letting you know how you can use it within a few minutes of finishing this article.
ClickBank introduced its instant notification service at the beginning of 2008. However, the company did not make it easy for their non technical audience to use the service, and the arrival of the instant notification protocol went mostly unnoticed.
Here is how the service works. Given that you enable instant notifications from within your ClickBank affiliate account, ClickBank will attempt to send to any web application (which you specify) that can receive it, a record of every transaction that is logged to your account during the course of the day.
Herein lies the real problem. You need to have a web application sitting on a site that you own, which can receive the information from ClickBank (in the form of a POST request). Your application is then expected to turn around and email you the same information.
To its credit, ClickBank has offered some code which explains how to read the data that it sends you. It also instructs you on how to verify that the data you received has not been tampered with on route.
But most affiliates would have liked to have been given a web program that does the job for them without them having to invest time trying to write something of their own.
Fortunately, these days affiliates can bypass all of this technical tom foolery and get ClickBank affiliate sales notifications simply by grabbing a FREE web application that records your ClickBank sales transactions and emails you alerts. All you need to do is configure the software and visit ClickBank to switch on your instant notifications.
There are advantages to doing this, both for you, and for ClickBank. Many affiliates are prone to logging into their ClickBank account several times every day to find out whether they have made any new sales. But this is no longer needed if you are being told, in real time, about new sales that are being made. It is also advantageous for ClickBank, because by offloading your logins to their servers - which are not exactly speedy - the login experience for remaining affiliates gets better.
So, the point I am making is that you do not need to be a ClickBank vendor to get special treatment in the form of sales alerts. Affiliates can enjoy the service too.
